In 2018, we faced another critical race for Governor, this time in Florida. For the primary, Ron DeSantis had his hands full with Adam Putnam, a staple of Florida politics who had served both in Congress and more recently as Agriculture Commissioner. Putnam was also a fundraising juggernaut. We needed to grab some attention. Ron’s wife Casey DeSantis, a former sports commentator and on air personality, gave us a unique opportunity to have some fun while still leaning into Ron’s biggest strengths. “Casey” received a tremendous amount of earned media in the state as well as nearly one million views online.
