CAMPFIRE HAIKU: THE KRABI BOXER

Railay East, Krabi, Thailand. The less glamorous side compared to the picture postcard west side. It’s where the budget visitors reside and play, and somewhere nestled along this stretch is a tiny little shack where Muay Thai fights take place every night.

Great for travellers to get a taste of the action, however when the fighters climb into the ring, you can’t help but think, how mundane it must be going through the motions every night.

Sure, they make a living but the imagination goes into overdrive and wonders about their past. Muay Thai is very popular and many take it up from an early age but like with most sports or indeed, other careers, what do you do once you’ve reached your expiry date?
