It would appear that some people are far more prone to believing whatever they are told - whereas some others have more independent thinking - this even being referred to as having a "Good B.S. - Detector". Why might this be, has been a big question that this videographer has pondered for some years now.

Indeed, why do some people prefer to learn from books - again, often simply believing whatever their books and instructors tell them as Gospel - whereas some others prefer learning by observing and then pondering what they've seen, and discussing such with their family members and friends. (Consider Russell Conwell's book, "Every Man His Own University", along the latter lines, wherein his views on the crucial importance of observation is discussed.)

And what role does one's gender and body type play, in whether one tends to "believe whatever one is told"? This video discusses the view that being vulnerable to physical "harm" - by way of "frailty" as compared to some others around themselves - can markedly influence a person - can markedly influence a person's capacity toward the believing - or not believing - whatever one is told.

Finally, the book "Thou Shalt Not Be Aware", by the psychoanalyst Alice Miller, is brought up: (As per Wikipedia, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Miller_(psychologist), "Alice Miller, born as Alicija Englard, was a Polish-Swiss psychologist, psychoanalyst and philosopher of Jewish origin, who is noted for her books on parental child abuse, translated into several languages. She was also a noted public intellectual.")
