In February 2019 Skate Nottingham and Long Live Southbank delivered a one day workshop as part of Nottingham's Festival of Science and Curiosity. Forty skaters and other local young people and adults, including architects and other academics, were supported by LLSB's Henry Edwards-Wood and skater-architect Tom Deacon to come up with design ideas for how 'unloved' (neglected, underutilised) spaces in Nottingham could be revitalised with skateable forms. This went on to inform a sanctioned temporary occupation of the disused undercroft area at the foot of Maid Marion way and the side of Broadmarsh Shopping Centre, the 'Unlock the Pit' jam on 26th May with the Ramp Supply Co, Forty Two Shop and Nottingham's Creative Quarter in which more than 50 skaters, families and spectators made the space lively and welcoming for an afternoon - demonstrating the potential for longer-term transformation of Nottingham's public spaces.
