Soy, oat and almond milk belong to plant-based milk alternatives. During production, the raw material is first mixed with water and finely ground. Afterwards, a so-called extraction process takes place and as much material as possible is extracted into the liquid phase, the plant-based milk. In case of raw material which contains starch, enzymes which convert starch into sugar are used. An important step is then the efficient separation of extracted plant fibers using decanter centrifuges. If necessary, the recovered raw milk is mixed with other ingredients such as oil, flavors or salt, and then homogenized, heated and bottled.

Decanter centrifuges are the most efficient type of machines to separate the milk completely from the product slurry. High g-forces result in maximum clarification and optimum cake dryness, thus assuring maximum yields of plant-based milk.
