(2018) single channel - In Mock Mystique I focus on the desert greenhouse of the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens as my site for investigation on the fiction created by language and taxonomization. The illusion of the global desert thriving within a Brooklyn greenhouse on a December day rests on the power of the authority of language and science in dictating logic and reason, and our participation in circulating this belief. In Mock Mystique I wish to test the extent to which beings are intelligible, and the degree in which beings rely on a created language created to breathe life into them.
