„the flipdigits monitor” plays algorithmic animations and reacts to kinect depth cam. it’s made of twenty mechanical flipdigits text screens mounted to a 1x1x0,5m box.
flipdigits displays are usually used for informational purposes, ie. at airports or train stations – mainly because of low power consumption. the sound comes from the moving mechanical parts of the digits.
the project involved programming the controller, developing animations algorithms and building the construction.
