The media installation revolves around computer vision and artificially generated architectural perspectives by experimenting in an large scale audio-visual setup. Three video screens floating in mid air and a 3D audio speaker constitute an immersive sound- and lightscape inside the absorber tower of the Saline Hallein salt plant. The site specific installation takes up the subject of automated industrial production and poses questions about possible contemporary equivalents.

In the center of the technical apparatus is a deep neural network (GAN model). Trained to see and interpret industrial architecture it perpetually produces adopted suggestions for industrial environments. On the upper wings of the screen setup the flow of abstract images is complemented by floating 3D objects that resemble single rooms inside the Saline plant. These 3D models were derived from photogrammetric scans, i.e. 2D surface textures converted into point clouds to meshes/corpi.

The self-contained apparatus performs its routines without human interaction, but in a runaway situation with variations of possibilities. Both, machine learning as well as photogrammetry are pervasive imaging techniques
of our time. Despite being purely computer generated the results trigger the spectators’ associative imagination and even captivate the audience with their painterly aesthetic qualities. Due to
integrating them as tools being specifically configured and further expectantly supervised to shape conceptual and phenomenological needs within the architectural environment and audio-visual composition.
