This project is an interview with my sister who is a high school special educations teacher and a parent of two young girls. My goal for this interview was to show my sister's experience with her students and children during the pandemic and with remote learning. Originally the interview had an hour of audio content, so I had to trim the interview down to around five minutes. I used parts that encapsulated the main hardship both the students and children had to deal with during the pandemic. But also how my sister reacted to help her students and children. After I was able to trim the audio down to five minutes I had to transcribe it because the audio contained a lot of background noise. My sister and I re-did the interview with her reading the transcribed dialogue. After, I cleaned up the new dialogue by removing any filler speech like "umms" and long breaths. After working on the main dialogue, I added music. I used three songs, one for the students, another for the children, and the third one for the conclusion. I chose the songs I used for the students and children because I felt they were very reflective. It was important for me to have those songs feel reflective as the interview is my sister reflecting on the pandemic. The last song is an upbeat song which I used because it reflects how the situation has improved, with life slowly going back to normal. As well it emphasizes how the kids and students have adapted well to online learning. I made sure to leave a beat of silence in the dialogue where the music shifts to indicate a new topic is being introduced. After working on the music, I added sound effects. The sound effects were the most difficult part as the interview is naturalistic. Nevertheless is sprinkled sound of kids talking and laughing when my sister talked about her daughters. I also used classroom murmur during parts where my sister talked about her students. There were also bird chirping sounds I used to illustrate how school was a place to be free for the students. I also used it in the end, to show how we are almost free of the pandemic. I finally ended the interview with typing and zoom sound effects to showcase the remote learning experience as a whole.
