Native American singer Martha Redbone teaches a combination of two traditional social dances: “Choctaw Drum Dance” and “Cherokee Bear Dance”.

In the Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers program, students explore a diverse range of musical genres found in their New York City neighborhoods. Basic music skills are developed in classrooms as children learn songs from different cultures, reflect on their own communities, and develop singing and listening skills. During the 2020–2021 season, students explore Georgian folk, Native American, and South African Zulu music in the fall, and Son Jarocho, Sicilian Folk, and Calypso music in the spring.

Visit carnegiehall.org/musicalexplorers for more information on the Musical Explorers program.
