This short video shows how we approached setting up a system for adding new assets to our "room generator tool". One of our main goals was to keep this process very simple and fast because the tool was in usage for the full production time, which was 6 months. What we ended up building is a versatile 3 step process:
1. Add asset(s) in a new input and separate all the separate pieces for proper instancing (automatic)
2. We select 3 different tags that will decide where the object should spawn and the maximum number that can be found in a single room (manual)
3. We design the "prefabs"( = combination(s) of the pieces from the same input), that will spawn in the rooms (manual)
*example: an input might contain a chair, a desk and a lamp. A prefab would be all these three together or just the chair and desk etc.*
