The transition over the last three days to Autumn has been remarkably cohesive, signals under the ground, root communication vibrating with the transition that bids Summer farewell. People may feel somewhat sad, perhaps even listless, hoping for some fortitude to see them through the lengthening of nights, but I relish this season.

There is that pithy evidence in the air that heralds decay and apple orchards glow with their wasp bored burdens, the last sugar of warm seeking a bite from Snow White. The red squirrels prance over the first crinkled leaf fall, bustling for nuts, composing location mind maps with each secret stash. Swallows still yadder on the wires, swapping long haul stories, learning legend trips to Africa to take their flights of hope with, forever sun.

Crows conform to murder, happy for hiding in the height of approaching black and seeking out carion in decay, their season always there to peck a beak at.

All this is worth a song to derelict, to the muting down, though not in sorrow.
