Seismic shifts occurring both literally and figuratively in our new 2020 future. FUTURVISION aims to glimpse into what lies ahead from a few of our favorite local artists.
This virtual art show begins in 1979 where local legend Dr. Eddie "Snakepit" Edwards performs with his Snakepit Band on a television show in San Francisco. Accompanied by performance artist and dancer Ricardo Mitchell, Snakepit leads his band on a journey through sonic-space! blending inspirations from Miles Davis while operating some of the most high-tech synthesizer technology of the day. Snakepit is a true innovator and artist!
His music in this video also creates a backdrop for our featured artists this month including Alondra Hernandez, James T. Johnson, Julisa Jenks, Melissa March, Niki Adams, Pata Pillar, Sara Moreno, Stephen James and Vonzetta Crain.
Julisa Jenks shares her piece, "A Millennium In The Future, Where Black Lives Finally Matter." We also feature artist Pata Pillar with her futuristic Pod(suit).
