GRADE 5: Transitioning to Super Fish and Flying Fish - Aed

Aiden and Conner are two year old Grade 5 swimmers. They just finished swimming a full length of our 22 yard pool, with Small Ring Backpacks and no teacher assistance. This will illustrate Super Duper Seal or Adventuresome Distance Kick & Roll Swimming. The objective is for the twins to swim "the distance" without the any assistance from the teaching aids or teachers.
* As you can see, they still spend a considerably longer time on their backs than on their tummies.They still need to develop a fluid Kick & Roll Swim, but it is wonderful that they have such great confidence and do not expect or want assistance from their teachers.
* As they end their lesson with this long swim, Miss Karen is allowing them to run & jump off the raft at the beginning of the lap and enjoy the slide half-way down the pool. Karen builds fun into the lesson instead of working them hard during their combined 30 minute lesson and ending with "FUN TIME".
* Notice that even though they are being watched by their teachers, there is no assistance, no matter how long it takes for them to reach their destinations. We need to be very patient with the kids at this point. If you try to assist them just to speed up the lesson, you're showing them that you don't think they're good enough to do it by themselves.
* It is especially good to see them LAUNCH off the castle on their own. They are motivated by each other. When one does it, the other tries to keep up. This is why we recommend combining students together into 30 minutes lessons of two or more students, by Grade 4, if not before..
