We have explored the design of the Huntingdon Estate through a range of media including photography, model making, sketching, digital means and increasingly through film. Collaborating with our visual artists Secchi Smith, the video is curated to explore how the layering of a sound scape over both still and moving images assists in the reading of the building within its rich and unique context.

The building is intended to extend the surrounding Shoreditch streetscape internally, fostering an ‘eco-system’ between the various tenants in the building and the general public. An internal street, will be a dynamic and fluid meeting hub that extends the street into the centre of the building. It is also the strategic organising principle for the building, creating an active mixed-use ground plane with an internal axis connecting Bethnal Green Road through to Whitby Street.

Active uses occupy all key corners playing host to a multitude of creative tenants including fashion, furniture, art and design. The building will provide high levels of flexibility and adaptability to allow for a range of tenancy splits, and to attract tenants through ease of occupation. Maker Space, and Affordable Workspaces, accessed at street level, has been designed to be durable with the opportunities for light industrial use. This provision is designed to meet a high demand for smaller affordable workspace in the area, fostering with emerging enterprises within the City Fringe Development Area.

The spaces will have generous ceiling heights and light wells to provide natural light and connectivity between floors. The affordable workspace provision will also connect to the ground floor lobby space which will act as a breakout zone and allow for glimpses of vibrant activity from the public realm.
