This is a 17th century aria from Dido and Aeneas, called "When I am Laid in Earth", but popularly referred to as "Dido's Lament". I recorded it in 2016 and did a video in 2018. This is a new remastered and re-edited version of both.

Film: I am fascinated by classic gothic horror, such as Francis Ford's Dracula, the Exorcist, The Omen, the Shining and Burnt Offerings. I love the use of symmetry in film images, Kubrick used it well in the Shining and Coppola in Dracula.

Music: I ignore pop music in general. Every generation has its pop geniuses and a thousand lame spinoffs. I like the music of Howard Shore, Lisa Gerrard, scores for British period films and some Arabic music. I try to sing the music of another dimension. There are enough songs about money and getting laid, although I may occasionally pen one of those as that is part of the human experience. But only a part.

Theme: I was subject to severe night terrors as an autistic child and I nearly died several times before age 6 from accidents and illness. I quickly turned to horror as, paradoxically, a comforting outlet. I told myself that people paid good money to have the shit scared out of them and I got it free every night. Being a ghost is a recurring theme in my videos, and will likely continue to be. It's not a cry for help as much as it is a metaphor. First, for my autism, but ever since I was a baby I felt I was not from here, that I was from someplace better, and I have always felt alienated even among my peers.

Tech: I made this film out of a completed 3 minute video originally directed by someone I met in Rome in 2018. I lost touch with him and did not have any raw footage, only our finished product, luckily in HD. when I redid the song, i simply re-edited the video by cutting, pasting, re-lighting, layering and adjusting speed in #premierepro. I did not shoot any new footage. I would not have elected to be in every frame, but was not the cameraman.
