Time Unfolded is a film directed by Johannes Regnier, this video is only the first instance of the movie.That will show: the exploration of movements filmed in 4K and decomposed instant after instant, following and extending the techniques of chronophotography, and accompanied by an immersive 8-channel live electronics performance. Through the interplay of sounds and images, time unfolds and shapes emerge from the succession of the instants. Was filmed during September 2019 in the Musikbrauerei, Berlin-Germany.

Time Unfolded: is an interdisciplinary and immersive multimedia work, combining high-resolution video, dance and live electronics, and is an extension of a study about movement decomposition and audio-visual relationships, made in 2017 and entitled Chronos.

Our work is in line with a long tradition consisting in seeing time and motion as a succession of moments, events or particles: in other words, a discontinuous, atomist and granular view of time. Such a time model can reveal the missing link between phenomenology, science and art, and thus is rich in visual and musical applications. So for instance, the motion studies of Eadweard Muybridge, or the chronophotographic works of Étienne-Jules Marey are not only fascinating as scientific studies, but also as aesthetic objects (as evidenced by their influence on Marcel Duchamp, Francis Bacon or Harold Eugene Edgerton, among many others).
