Gifts and Decorative Accessories and Allison Zisko of HFN joined us at NYNOW for a tour of Stacie and Alex of Kikkerland Design for a tour of the Kikkerland booth! Here Alex shows Allison some of Kikkerland's options for reducing waste. Transcript below.

Allison : I understand that there's a whole movement towards recycling and reducing waste and that part of that movement is more reusable straws. Is that right?

Alex: Absolutely. Reusable straws, well, paper straws specifically is something we've been doing for while. But this year we're really excited because our two themes are reuse and recharge. One of those things is our stainless steel straws. We have them here in a set. You get 10 in a set. It also comes with a handy little cleaning brush.

Allison : Oh, that's-

Alex: This is really helpful-

Allison : It is very helpful.

Alex: ... because these things can be difficult to clean sometimes.

Allison : Sure.

Alex: Then, we also have the travel straw kit.

Allison : I love that.

Alex: What's great about this is it's a such a small little case. You can just throw it in your bag and go. It's really easy to work with. The straw is collapsible so it takes up no space.

Allison : It telescopes. Yeah.

Alex: Absolutely. It's the same with the cleaner straw.

Allison : And it has a cleaner. That's awesome.

Alex: There you go. So that's something we're really excited about.

Allison : So if you're at a restaurant and you just-

Alex: Yeah, it's-

Allison : ... want a straw and don't want to take a plastic straw, you take that out and you're all set.

Alex: Exactly. Our big theme with reuse is small steps that you can take every day that make a bigger impact over time.

Allison : Great.

Alex: This is an example of that.

Allison : I like that very much.

Alex: We also have, I'll show you really quick-

Allison : On the front here.

Alex: I'll just grab here, our glass bottles. This is a really easy step you can take that makes a bigger impact as well over time. These actually come with a neoprene sleeve that you can take off and wash. And then these here are actually our bottle scrubbies. This pairs well with the glass bottles. They have a ceramic ball inside, so the idea is that you pop them in there with a little soap and water, give it a shake-

Allison : Give it a shake.

Alex: ... and you're good to go.

Allison : That's great.
