Directed, edited, and production designed by myself, this clip is a demonstration of my capacities at setting the bases and the tone of a story. This clip establishes the time, space, and context of the characters. A morning like any other in Morelia, a young student prepares to assist to another of the recurring student protests happening in the city center. At the same time, a father and his son head towards what seems like any other routine day.
This story takes place in my hometown in 1966. It tells the not well-known successes of a student movement that was the predecessor of one of the biggest massacres of Mexico's history as it was the first open fire against unarmed civilians protesting in Mexico. This is a story that refers to my hometown's history and shows the early attempts of the Mexican government to censor freedom of speech. This short film includes copyrighted music material appropriately referenced in the credits.
