‘Only To Be Expected’ is an exploration of the fleeting sensation of goosebumps as a tangible experience. It captures the highly intimate and transient occurrence of goosebumps into a permanent, tactile, and elongated experience.
Goosebumps are a physiological response to benign stimuli having evolved from a functional biological survival mechanism. They are often experienced during intense emotions of anticipation or elation and as some studies have shown, one’s correct internal prediction about the external world.
My work instils this fleeting, intimate experience through a constant state of movement and flux, inspired by the nostalgia and suspense typically associated with goosebumps.
