This piece is a combination of Vector Flow Fields and the Gray-Scott Model (Reaction-Diffusion Simulation).

Here, a large particle system based on vector fields acts as the basis to the Gray-Scott model.

The user moves their hands around in front of the screen causing the particle system to react, which in turn is being fed into a GLSL shader (taken and modified from a TouchDesigner Summit workshop) that handles the reaction-diffusion simulation.

Movement data is also being sent to Ableton via OSC to add a sonic element to the particles' movement.

Additional feedback loops were added to the reaction diffusion system to allow for better control and avoid continuous expansion at any given input. The result is a twirling Gray-Scott simulation that manifests with the particles and dies off when their movement ceases.

My handy 'movement to amplitude' network was used to translate movement data from the Kinect camera to control a granular synthesizer in Ableton Live.

Audio data is also sent back to TouchDesigner to affect parameters in the particle field- resulting in a two-way reactive system.
