* This shows an Errorless Approach to The Whole Method which works very well with the strong-willed child that is so resistant to cooperating that all your efforts to teach them the progression from Grade 0 and beyond do not work.
* Try having them essentially teach themselves under your guidance by allowing them to learn with the Puddle Jumper. Evelyn has already had several lessons where she did these skills without even putting her face in the water.
* They must BELIEVE that what you want them to do IS POSSIBLE and PAINLESS, before they are willing to TRUST your efforts. By using the Puddle Jumper they can learn the parts of the Swim~Float~Swim with the same actions that work when they are not wearing a floating device.
* It is important to note that we are allowing her to kick her feet, even though we do not generally want them to learn MOVEMENT SKILLS until after they are trust their BUOYANCY and BALANCE. However, in this case Evelyn (who has a strong desire to be in control of everything), is more accepting of the skills when she kicks. Eventually, we will insist on having her learn to float and glide in a very relaxed "manatee-like" manner ... then add the kick for propulsion.

* NEXT STEP: Teach Evelyn using a Puddle Jumper belt without the arm holes... and eventually FADE the float teaching aid to smaller and smaller belts. Eventually, she will just use a wetsuit. And finally, she will do all of this without any extra help at all. Our job is to make sure she does everything with the proper, natural form required to do efficient Roll-Over Swimming and Back Swimming.
