The "Exquisite Corpse,” was an exercise taken from a game the surrealists used to play. They passed around a drawing and it gave way to new ideas.
Our drawings were made based on each team member's emotional reaction to an assemblage of sounds. We chose a color palette to work from and coordinated our technical approach - a hybrid of hand drawing and digital coloring, as well as animation. The skills and tactics used in creating this collective drawing can easily be translated to a collaborative design and planning process.
In my portion of the drawing, I chose to represent invasive species as an experiment in how iconography and abstraction can impact one’s interpretation of “nature.” I envision these forms being translated to, say, playground equipment, or a planting plan for a promenade.
