DOGMA 19 is a rescue action — a heritage aka advancement of dogma 95, founded by our great predecessors in Copenhagen in 1995.
In 2019 enough is enough! The movie is dead and calling for resurrection.
Slogans of individualism and freedom created works for a while, but no changes, STILL. The anti-bourgeois cinema itself became bourgeois, because the foundations upon which its theories were based was the bourgeois perception of art. The auteur concept was bourgeois romanticism from the very start and thereby… false!
Today a technological storm is raging. For the first time, anyone can make movies; but the more accessible the medium becomes, the audience gets fooled more easily .
The last grains of truth are washed away in the deadly embrace of sensation, under a pandemic fever called image quality. High resolution means not high reception, and the audience is never our allies, but enemies; perception must not be spoiled but challenged, for nowadays movies are barren, being merely illusion of pathos and an illusion of love.
But to DOGMA 19 the movie is not illusion! It is emotion! A turmoil will be conjured and revolution is imminent. We shall destroy the superficiality of this digital age.
