A ferocious press and active shooting allowed Darrow Women's Basketball to jet out to a big early lead in a 54-29 defeat of Marvelwood at D's House. Jabarria led the scorers with 37 points, including 3 3-pointers. Fatou ably assisted many of those baskets off of steals out of the press. Fatou added 8 points. Fatoumata had 8 rebounds and 6 points for DWB. For the second home game in a row, the BLACK team - led by Kylah and featuring Akosua, Abena, Ma'kea, and Thalia - pitched a defensive shutout during their second-quarter shift. Akos and Abena also added points on the day. First-year Samantha made her initial on-court appearance of the season, earning 3 beautiful shots, nabbing 3 rebounds, and completing 2 steals in three separate shifts. Nailah was the other first-year standout - playing strong defense, rebounding, and running the break for the Ducks. Former DWB Assistant Coach Lazes was among the supportive, enthusiastic fans in D's House. Always "Together!" DWB (2-1, 2-0) travels to Oakwood Friends for an HVAL contest on Wednesday.
