For the 16th time already, Markus Rehm (GER), Rushwal Samaai (RSA) and Nastassia Mironchyk-Invanova (BLR), along with some of the best pole vaulters and long jumpers in the world, met in the historic old town of Innsbruck (AUT) for the Golden Roof Challenge 2020.
In front of almost 700 spectators the athletes competed in an exciting competition. In close cooperation with the authorities, the organizers were able to develop a hygiene concept that made it possible to admit spectators to the event under strict conditions.
The women's pole vault was won by the German Lisa Ryzih, who was the only jumper to master the height of 4.45 meters. Amalie Svabikova (CZE) and Danny Smets (BEL) completed the podium (both 4.25 meters).
The men's competition was shorter than expected and hoped for due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. Nevertheless it was exciting and spectacular and in the end the US-American Matt Ludwig and the Dutch Menno Vloon shared first place with 5.40 meters height. With a height of 5.30 meters two more Americans shared 3rd place with Cole Walsh and Audie Wyatt.
