Do you constantly stretch and roll out your hip flexor, TFL, and quad with mediocre results?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Yep, I thought so! Let me neuro nerd trouble shoot it for you and show you a way easier way!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When you take the easy approach you make sure the nerves are free and able to communicate to the muscles.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
To help the TFL start at the posterior lateral hip freeing up the superior gluteal nerve. Use a tune up fitness ball or Franklin ball here or even a flexible cup (for a skin lift technique).⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Then if you feel the quad and groin tightness target the femoral and obturator nerve. They are on the front of the hip in the pelvis around the pubic bone and inguinal ligament. Be sure to use a soft ball here like the 4” smooth Franklin ball.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✅ How do you know you are in the right spot? Two ways:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1️⃣ look at the anatomy. Nerves are predictable and should be exactly where they are supposed too. Also when they are restricted they tend to rise to the surface and be really sensitive even to a light touch or cause a slight divot in the skin.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2️⃣ It will feel a little achy or a more visceral feeling then just deep tissue even right next to the location. (Pro-tip: more sensation is not better, move just off the side of the nerve to still have a great effect)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In the video I used the half kneeling hip flexor exercise as a pre and post check. Once it felt more free after happy nerves then I added the stretch.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
PS: video is sped up 3x (go slow especially for the self massage parts, take the time to feeeellll and breath)⁣
