Opening Day! The JV Lions started their baseball season at the friendly confines of St. Pierre Field this past Saturday with a double-header against West Ranch High School of Santa Clarita. The Lions played error-free baseball and swept the twin bill by shut-out, winning the first game 3-0 and the second match 6-0. The Lions pitching staff dominated, allowing just three hits on the day. Brodie Purcell (4.0 IP), Mac Zawistoski (2.0 IP), Nick Galetta (1.0 IP; SV), Ben Reimers (3.0 IP), JJ Hollis (3.0 IP), and Cole Murphy (1.0 IP) made their season debuts on the mound and teamed-up to strike out twelve Wildcats. Sophomore, Shaun McCaghren, had a standout performance at the plate going 2-5 with 4 RBI. Jake Bourne, JJ Hollis, Ryan Edwards, Andrew Lamb, and Ben Reimers also had key plate appearances that produced runs for the team. Next up, the JV plays a five-game stretch in the Garden Grove Tournament from Feb. 20-29th.
