This video walks through an intermittent Turbo Underboost DTC (P0299) that was ocurring on a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The vehicle came in with numerous DTC's related to fuel trim which we repaired. Following that we moved on to analyzing the P0299 Underboost condition. At times, the vehicle performed well and the desired boost and actual boost performed properly. Then on subsequent drives, the vehicle would demostrate a lack of power and display a pending P0299. Analyzing the scantool we were able to see that the desired vs actual boost levels were indicating some sort of leak. We removed the B1S1 O2 sensor and inserted the Snapon BK8000 borescope to have a look at the wastegate seal. We then used the redline detection dual purpose leak tester to drive open the wastegate so an inspection of the wastegate valve seat.
