The ST205 is one incredible coupe. Packing a potent 2.0L turbo, AWD, and a gritty disposition, its hard not to fall in love with the model. Designed to conquer the World Rally Championship, this Celica was built after years of gravel spitting competition from the brand. Believed by many to be one of Toyota's top creations, this 1994 example sports Lucerne Silver paint (199) and offered with only 85K verified miles. The body is in good shape other than a few errant dings and chips that are due to normal wear and tear. As for collectibility, this WRC edition car is one of only 2500 ever produced, making it highly desirable amongst enthusiasts.

The cockpit of the Celica is vaguely reminiscent of the MKIV Supra, and is simple and straightforward. Like its bigger brother, the gauges and displays all tilt towards the driver ever so slightly. The gauges are easy to read, and all the important controls are at hand. The driving position is more centered compared to the four-door Imprezas and Evo's and for that reason feels more sporty. The dash is in good shape, with remarkably few flaws. Being low slung with skinny A-pillars, disability is premium, although there is some scoring to be noted on the windshield. The gray interior plastics have held up well over the years, and the headliner and door cards are all are tight and taut. The steering wheel is in good nick, as are the carpets. A few interior upgrades have been done over the years and include a Recaro Confetti drivers bucket and a Momo steering wheel. They complement the interior well and add a bit of flair, however, the cabin retains much of its originality. The passenger seat and rear bench look nice and are upholstered in an understated deep blue and grey combination. The cockpit can seem a little snug at times on many ST205s, however, this particular one is equipped with a sunroof. It tilts and retracts to provide extra ventilation in the cabin, but more importantly provides some natural light to make the inside feel roomier. The heat and A/C work as they should, and this Celica is equipped with power windows, locks, and mirrors as well.

Mechanically, the ST205 is a robust platform. Toyotas tried and true 3S-GTE, revised into its third iteration, sits low in the engine bay. A trick OEM water to air intercooler is front and center, astute eyes will notice a fresh 12V battery installed here stateside. The hearty four-banger cranks over with ease and settles into a nice idle. The turbo flutter is accentuated by an A'pexi intake and an FGK Catback exhaust that frees the breathing up post-combustion. Acceleration is more than brisk, and the five-speed manual transmission happily shifts through the gears with a touch more notchiness than stock. A short shifter, Spats front strut tower brace, and set of black powder-coated 17" Wedsport RS-5 wheels round out the list of upgrades. The OEM suspension is more than forgiving, and our technicians have replaced the right control arm to remove any play in the suspension system. This translates to a much more direct connection between the driver and car, as this WRC edition can really get down in the twisties. Braking and steering feel is reassuring, and the little two-door can get down from highway speeds with confidence if you need to hop on the middle pedal. Grip comes from four brand new all-season tires, and a fresh oil and filter service completes the list of routine maintenance. It's no wonder Toyota won so many races, as the ST205 is impressive even by today's performance standards.

While many will consider this Toyota GT-Four as a collectible, we believe it should be driven. This AWD missile eats up pavement, and delivers tenacious grip on all types of road surfaces. The boy-racer styling, punchy drivetrain, and Toyota reliability make this an instant Japanese Classic.
