The Land Cruiser has a sterling reputation for ruggedness and reliability and this 80 series exemplifies these traits. Especially desired because of its legendary diesel powerplant, the 1HZ, and its luxurious appointments, you won't want to miss out on this 1993 VX Limited model. Refinished in a sleek Piano Black, the body is in good shape other than some normal dings, chips, and scuffs associated with day to day use. Offered with only 108K verified miles, and featuring upgraded wheels, OEM rain guards, and a bevy of power options including a factory icebox, this Cruiser is a certified Japanese Classic.

The voluminous cabin has plenty of room for people and cargo. The VX limited vehicles were able to be optioned better than most base Cruisers. That meant that special Alcantara seats were fashioned for a more upscale feel. Despite some light staining, they are in remarkably good shape and devoid of any major rips or tears. The dash is neither cracked or distorted from sun damage, and the headliner is in good shape as well. The privacy tint installed in Japan has done a decent job of keeping the harmful UV rays off the interior plastics and leather surfaces. Normally falling apart, the steering wheel in this Land Cruiser looks nearly new and has been well cared for over the years. A functional sunroof that tilts and retracts sits between the front occupants and provides plenty of natural light and ventilation. Extra cooling can be requested from the 80's automatic climate system, which utilizes big buttons and easy to read scripting. If its hot outside you always have your Icebox center console to keep your libations cool if needed. A tilt column and power windows, locks and mirrors make ownership much more convenient. The audio system is powered, however, it has limited functionality; we recommend a US replacement. The door cards are in good shape as are the carpets, although there is some light fading to note. The OEM mats and factory manuals are also included for originality's sake.

The 80 series was sold here stateside, therefore parts are readily available and generally inexpensive. We bring all of our vehicles up to date on maintenance and this one is no exception. The 1HZ straight-six fires up with a turn of the key, and benefits from a fresh oil and filter service. At 4164cc, this nearly vibration-free mill may not make as much power as its turbocharged stablemate, but it produces less heat and las fewer parts to fail; thereby limiting mechanical liabilities. Acceleration is constant, and the Cruiser gets up to highway speeds adequately. The shifts are smooth and the overdrive equipped tranny doesn't suffer from any clunking or hesitation. Power is sent through a selective transfer case to all four wheels. Low-speed gearing is an option if the going gets tough and the (K295) center locking differential and front and rear limited-slip differentials are there for you when more traction is required. The suspension has been refreshed with all new shocks installed by one of our trained technicians. The large ute glides over large and small road imperfections and is remarkably civil for something body on frame. The brakes are confident and the steering is on the higher side of things. The new American Racings alloy wheels are all shod with new all-terrain rubber at all four corners.
