Libraries are now grappling with how to make those services viable for the diverse community that they serve, while keeping everyone safe and with an affordable budget. A look into this evolving landscape, reveals a certain level of uncertainty, whereas the only constant thing for now is, “flexibility"
Victor Ibegbu serves as the Assistant Director for Information Systems at the Detroit Public Library. He is a champion of technology effectiveness and has led the Detroit library through multiple successful technology integration and assimilation projects, to include: transition to VOIP telephony, migration from one network provider to another, transition from one OPAC system to another, introduction and implementation of print-pay systems, scalable bandwidth provisioning, broadband Wi-Fi services, etc. Victor holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with a concentration in digital librarianship; a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Information Systems, and an Associate degree in Computer Applications Technology. Victor is passionate about libraries, specifically as community anchors and he is determined to channel technologies as instruments for advancing the impact of libraries in the communities they serve.
