In early 2016, Winston acquired Nutricia’s historic manufacturing plant located at 37 Banks Road in Mount Wellington, Auckland; originally built in the early 1990s by Douglas Pharmaceutical, this is where renowned New Zealand infant formula powder brand Karicare, developed by legendary child health reformer and founder of Plunket, Sir Truby King, was first produced. Over the years, this factory has garnered widespread industry acclaim for its high standards of manufacturing, a reputation which continues to this day – and with the installation and implementation of advanced new machinery and technology, Winston have built on this legacy even further.
