Living in Maine, one awaits summer eagerly, when days are long and nature beckons and time slows down. Winslow Homer (b. 1836−d. 1910) is well known for his images by the sea. He created this work in 1873—apparently this is an early watercolor. Homer’s skills in composition, color, and drawing are clearly evident. We see children in a dory enjoying the sea breezes. Or are they? Listen to Everyman Repertory Theatre’s take on the scene!
