In this episode, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® members of Theta Phi Omega chapter Soror Anna Booker and her daughter Soror Beverly Shelton share with us the meaning of legacy, sisterhood, and service. Soror Booker is a 74 year member of A.K.A. initiated at Alpha Xi chapter at Livingston College in 1948. Soror Booker, an educator is one of many who chartered Theta Phi Omega Chapter in 1968 in Plainfield, New Jersey. In 2021, the Plainfield Board of Education announced that Soror Anna and her husband Frater Charles Booker will have a school named in their honor. This honor pays respect to their civil rights contributions, specifically their case Booker vs. Plainfield Board of Education, where the Bookers along with the help of the NAACP sued the school board and eventually won their case challenging segregated school policies that detrimentally affected African American students. Enjoy this interview as Soror Anna shares with us her journey into womanhood and love of service.
