The Art of Creative Coding [lockdown edition]

Learn to make beautiful digital drawings and patterns using the widely used Processing language, a Java programming environment developed to allow visual artists to ‘sketch’ and produce expressive and artistic works with code. With these designs, you will learn to program your very own drawing which will be drawn by a pen plotter to produce a physical print to take home (via post). As well as new digital tools for application in your creative projects, you will develop an understanding of coding concepts to form a foundation for learning new programming languages.
This course is aimed at complete beginners with no programming experience. The course has been specifically tailored to learn creative coding in the context of design and the visual arts. An understanding of geometry and basic math is useful but you will learn to code“from scratch”through practical step-by-step examples, which you will be able to apply to your own creative practice.
Each online live session will be interactive and practical, with lots of opportunity to ask questions and discuss with your tutor and classmates. Class sizes will be limited to allow for each participant to receive individual feedback and assistance during class. In each session you will also be able to discuss your work with other students from around the world who will help critique and inspire your artwork. Cost: £195 (x4 2hr sessions)
