Originally given as a welcome talk to participants in the Connected Learning Journey Retreat of March 2020, this presentation is one of three thought pieces on the state of science today, as seen through the eyes of Kennan Salinero, principal founder of ReImagine Science. Kennan shares her thoughts about realized, and un-realized, potential through the lens of the many programs that have disappeared from the experimental and programmatic landscape of how science gets done. Carnegie Initiative on the Doctorate, NSF's IGERT and GK-12, AAAS's ELISS program, NAKFI, are all considered in the post-twilight of being shut down and discontinued. What does that leave?
