Have you seen the magic happening on the Trinity River levee east of downtown? Opal’s Farm, located on 13-acres near the Riverside Trailhead, is an innovative community project that sprouted along the river bank last year that provides the public access to healthy foods and agricultural learning opportunities for communities in need.
The garden was the brainchild of long-time Fort Worth resident and activist Opal Lee, who had always dreamt of having a sustainable farm in a food desert to help impoverished residents gain access to organic produce. In 2019, with some help from TRWD, her vision became a reality.
