Loom, Hearing Lines and Squared are three audiovisual works that collectively take inspiration from the techniques and aesthetics of textile art. The triptych interprets the design, process and physical aspects of cross-stitch, embroidery and weaving in a digital context. Working from the mathematical parallels perceived between these textile forms and computer programming, the audiovisual pieces consider how specific textile techniques may be adapted and applied to sonic and visual content. By understanding these techniques in an algorithmic way, the project also aims to highlight how the textile industry motivated advances in technology that influenced the development of the computer.
