This is one of Malta's most picturesque bays and a main tourist area in St Julian's with a large concentration of restaurants, cafes and bars. It is beautiful at daytime but romantic at nighttime, lit up in all its splendour. Spinola Bay was originally a fishing village and the bay is still used by fishermen. You'll be able to see fishing boats and fishing equipment as you stroll along the promenade down from the LOVE monument which is also a popular and modern landmark in St Julian's. Some people call this monument the upside down statue because the word love reflects on the surface of the sea at nighttime. Spinola Bay is only a few minutes' walk from Gateway School of English GSE and this is where our international students hang out after classes and relax after their morning or afternoon lessons. St Julian's has become a cosmopolitan hub with a lot of international companies choosing the town as the ideal place to base their offices and thus our students have both the opportunity to find jobs in the area, especially those who study with us on long term, as well as practise the English language with the large expat community in the area.
