Proposal : When I first learned that I was admitted to Parsons The New School, I was shocked. I thought that there was no way that I would be admitted. Parsons was a lifelong dream of mine. Ever since I was little, I always wanted to go to an art school to chase after my creative endeavors. Moments before learning of my acceptance I was in my art class drawing. The color was a soft yellow - cheerful and happy. The moment I looked at the words “Congratulations” on my admissions letter, my heart stopped. The color that I would best describe that moment would be a blue-grey - because the moment was frozen and suspenseful. My brain needed time to process what was happening. And then I realized what had happened, a shot of light grey spread in my mind. Light grey meaning surprise but not without the notion of excitement.

I have never worked with sound in a visual manner. To create visual representations of what I felt in that moment, is new to me. I had to really step back and think about what sounds came from within my body and what sounds I felt like I heard. It's interesting to pair internal feelings with color representations and to pair them with sound. I feel like the outcome of my soundscape project is more abstract that I imagined it to be. By just listening to my piece, it is unclear what is going on - even by watching it, it is unclear what is going on. Looking at my original project proposal, I don’t think there is much change. I stuck with the same colors that I originally thought of and the feelings stayed the same.
