Siri Zen Master is an installation that questions the combination of technology and spirituality in a contemporary context. The installation takes the form of a new Zen garden, by using projection, light and sound the garden transforms and Zen phrases are spoken by Siri’s voice.
The integration of Eastern culture in Western society is nothing new. Yoga, Buddhism and meditation practices are common in today’s world. The increase need for calming exercises and consciousness practices along with rapid changes in technology, has created a new world of hybrid culture which appears, for example, as meditation apps.
The work seeks to reflect and comment about this hybrid world and to question the combination of artificial intelligence and consciousness practices. If meditation apps are something of the norm, perhaps Siri can become our spiritual guide.
