Furious by Michael Gow (Scene 17)
I found this in my book of Queer Australian Plays. I didn’t know Gow is gay so this really intrigued me after learning a monologue from Away a few years ago. I really quite enjoyed this read, his writing in general.
I will be honest, this was probably 2hrs into shooting this scene. I overworked it. Placed it in a pressure cooker along side doubt, anxiety and frustration, which, of course, aren’t the best for a performer but we all find ourselves there. Even if it has not yet reached the potential I believe it can I am still somewhat happy with the end result.
I will leave this for a few days, maybe after a different monologue, and attack it from a new angle. Maybe one more ferocious and frenetic in tone.
