Students in the Richardson Independent School District (RISD) and the Plano Independent School District (PISD) will start the new year virtually and open campuses for face-to-face instruction after Labor Day. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and based on directives and guidelines from the CDC, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, the Texas Education Agency and their respective counties, RISD and PISD recently announced dates, guidelines and safety procedures being implanted for the upcoming school year. PISD will begin virtual classes Aug. 12 and on-site classes Sept. 9. RISD plans to start virtual learning Aug. 19, with on-site classes beginning Sept. 8.
