The Pascagoula River Audubon Center in Moss Point is part of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art's Art in the Open project, a series of site-specific outdoor art installations uniting the designs and vision of celebrated artist Walter Inglis Anderson (1903-1965) with the natural world that inspired him.

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art and sculptor Zach Harris have reinterpreted Anderson’s beloved block print designs to evocatively exist within area environments and at coastal landmarks. These sculptures, bridging the spaces between the museum and the landscapes beyond its walls, connect the region’s art history to conversations about science, conservation, and historic preservation. They encourage visitors to venture off the beaten path and to cultivate new perspectives about living, studying, and interacting with the land and sea. Art in the Open celebrates the flora, fauna, and communities that call the Mississippi Gulf Coast home.

Art in the Open is funded by a grant through the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area.
