In rare instances, tethered cord syndrome can recur following an initial detethering surgery. Dr. Nicholas Theodore describes the results of a particular surgical technique in recurrent tethered cord syndrome that seems to be promising, at least retrospectively. The technique itself involves a sort of "re-engineering" of the spinal cord itself to try and correct the issues causing symptoms.
