Point of View: Incorporating Spatial Reasoning
1) Paper, Lights, Action!: Creating and Drawing Sculpture of Thoughts

Facilitated by Outstanding Educator-in-Residence, Dr Andrea Kantrowitz, Assistant Professor, Art Education and Graduate Programme Coordinator of State University of New York@ New Paltz

Title of Sharing: Drawing Challenges
We strive to offer our students a variety of drawing challenges that engage them both intellectually and emotionally. This needs to include exposure to “tricks of the trade” as well as open-ended explorations of new media and materials. Examples which balance exploration, experimentation and instruction throughout the school years will be shared. As students build their sense of competence and confidence over time, new challenges need to be made available.
To ensure high quality of drawing instruction, the instructors themselves should be active and curious practitioners. They should continually challenging themselves and modeling this engagement for their students. Supporting teachers to build a community of drawers, with effective ways to share and collaborate on personal as well as pedagogical practices, is the best way to implement and improve drawing programmes that enhance and foster 21st century competencies and skills.
