PLAN SELVA is a strategy to reduce the infrastructure gap and ensure basic living conditions in school premises in the Amazon in order to increase learning rates in a complex territory that has been historically abandoned by the government.

Factors such as the size of the territory, its population dispersion, its fundamentally rural situation, the lack of conventional land property clearance, the scarcity of basic services and extreme climate conditions have led to the present state of emergency in school infrastructure. According to the National School Infrastructure Census- 2014, more than half of existing schools require renovations or major interventions.

One of the strategies for improving the quality of the schools was "The Prefab School System". We created a modular, replicable, scalable, flexible system, that improved the educational spaces in the rural Amazon and withstood the conditions of climatic variability prevailing in the jungle. A catalogue of versatile prefabricated modules was designed which can be moved quickly and assembled according to the pedagogical requirements such as boarding programs for students or housing for the teachers.

Over 40 modular prefabricated system schools were built throughout the territory between 2016 and 2019 including autonomous electrical, water and drainage system through solar panels, rain water harvesting and biodigesters. This project had a special jury mention at the XV Venice Architecture Biennale.
