From the beginning of the COVID-19 shutdown, DBDT transitioned its artistic and academy programming online to keep serving the community. Dancers share new and re-imagined choreography on social media, as well as interviews, workout sessions, and live conversations with our extended family. Academy classes and school outreach continue virtually with tuition discounts to help families struggling financially during the pandemic.

This summer, Dallas Black Dance Theatre became the first dance company to implement paid virtual performances to help keep our doors open. The shift expands the organization’s reach beyond the theater and allows audiences to watch a performance in areas the company has never traveled to physically.

Both live and recorded virtual performances will be essential to keeping our dancers and staff working full-time until it is safe for you and your family to return to the theater. However, virtual ticket sales only cover a limited portion of the costs to keep the company running.
