We ask leading outside school hours care services how they create environments where all children can participate and succeed.

After watching the video, try these reflective questions and activities, either individually or at your next staff meeting or PD session:
• How do the environments shown in the video encourage children’s agency and support their wellbeing?
• What examples of sustainable practices can you see? How are children encouraged to care for the environment?
• How do the physical environments shown in the video support Outcome 2 of the VEYLDF –Children are connected with and contribute to their world?
• The video shows a range of spaces and resources that children utilise at OSHC. Reflecting on Quality Area 2 – Children’s health and safety, and Quality Area 3 – Physical environments, choose a space or resource you see in the video and list the things that would need to be considered to ensure it is safe for children.
• What are the benefits of your physical environment? What have you done to make it work for you, the children and their families? What else could you do?
• How could you provide more opportunities to enrich sensory and exploratory play experiences at your service with natural resources – for example, with rocks, twigs, leaves or flowers?
